Due to the development needs of Peking University School of Basic Medical Sciences, in order to address fundamental issues such as the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of disease mechanisms, the school intends to recruit high-level talents in the field of AI for medicine from both domestic and overseas. The relevant matters are announced as follows:
Introduction to the School of Basic Medical Sciences
The predecessor of the School of Basic Medical Sciences was the Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Beijing Medical College, which was established on September 14, 1954. Since its inception in 1954, it has gradually developed into a top-tier center for basic medical education in China. The School of Basic Medical Sciences at Peking University currently comprises 16 departments (or institutes) and boasts several internationally advanced research bases and experimental technology platforms, including one national key laboratory.
The college boasts an impressive faculty roster, attracting numerous renowned scholars from both China and abroad. Its staff comprises six academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 20 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 18 recipients of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, and other esteemed national-level talents. In terms of teaching, the college undertakes basic medical courses for multiple majors, emphasizing teaching innovation and the cultivation of students' practical abilities. With fruitful results, it has repeatedly received national and municipal teaching achievement awards. The basic medical discipline was awarded an "A+" in the fourth round of disciplinary assessments by the Ministry of Education and was selected as a national "Double First-Class" discipline for construction. According to the "Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of China's Best Disciplines" from 2018 to 2022, Peking University's "Basic Medical Sciences" discipline ranked first for five consecutive years. In scientific research, the college is primarily engaged in basic and applied fundamental research in the field of biomedicine, boasting strong comprehensive research capabilities. The college publishes an average of over 300 scientific research papers annually, including top-tier journal articles in Science, Nature, Cell, NEJM, and Nature Medicine. After more than 60 years of development, the college has become one of the national training bases for high-level professionals in the field of basic medicine, making significant contributions to the development of biomedical disciplines both domestically and internationally.
Subject Areas of Recruitment
The applicant's academic background includes but is not limited to:
Artificial intelligence at the cellular and molecular levels. Studies on issues such as the self-aggregation of disordered proteins and the interaction between proteins and cell membranes, combined with molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning algorithms, are of great significance for exploring the relationship between molecular structure and function, revealing cellular molecular mechanisms, and Identification of drug targets.
Artificial Intelligence in Drug Development and Treatment. Assisting scientists in accelerating the discovery of new drugs and optimizing treatment plans for existing drugs; aiding doctors in developing more precise treatment plans based on individual patient differences to achieve personalized diagnosis and treatment.
Artificial Intelligence in Symbiotic Bacteria Interaction. Combining microbiomes, metabolomics, genomics, transcriptomics, and other multi-omics big data, we use deep learning to construct the human body and symbiotic microbes’ interaction network model to explore the mechanism of the human body and microbes’ interaction, and to predict drug responsiveness, prognosis prediction, and guidance of interventional methods for diseases.
Artificial Intelligence in Basic Medical Bioinformatics Big Data. In the medical field, we plan to explore the molecular regulation mechanisms underlying individual development and the occurrence of complex diseases through the utilization of genomic big data, bioinformatics methods, and high-throughput experimental techniques such as single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics. Additionally, we aim to identify drug targets for infectious diseases and malignant tumors. By combining algorithm design with artificial intelligence technology, we intend to establish a precision medicine system that enhances diagnostic accuracy and improves treatment outcomes.
Artificial Intelligence in Multimodal Imaging. Utilizing multimodal attention models for disease diagnosis, lesion segmentation is performed through multimodal segmentation networks, enhancing the accurate detection and diagnosis of diseases. Existing technologies, such as 3D convolutional neural networks, are optimized to improve the accuracy and efficiency of medical image analysis. By leveraging the complementary information provided by different imaging modalities, AI-based multimodal imaging techniques can offer a more comprehensive understanding of the disease, leading to improved patient outcomes.
Artificial Intelligence in Individualized Health Management and Disease Early Warning. Utilizing structured medical record data and medical knowledge graphs, we aim to construct individualized health profiles and disease prevention systems. By continuously monitoring an individual's physiological data (such as pulse, blood pressure, blood sugar, electrocardiogram, etc.) and combining it with intelligent algorithms, we can achieve early disease warning and personalized health management. This approach enables proactive and tailored interventions to maintain or improve an individual's health status, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and quality of life.
Artificial Intelligence in Database Construction and Intelligent Management. In the field of medical science, we aim to establish extensive databases of medical literature. By utilizing big data mining and knowledge discovery techniques on these medical literature databases, we can achieve rapid acquisition and intelligent management of medical knowledge. Simultaneously, we will leverage smart management and efficient utilization technology systems for population health science big data to enhance our ability to analyze and manage health data on a larger scale. This integrated approach will facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of population health trends, leading to improved healthcare outcomes.
